Anathema
A downloadable game
An alchemy crafting game made for the Acerola Game Jam!
Master the art of alchemy and break the taboos of your art to placate the otherworldly entity that took over your potion shop! Combine over 40 ingredients into over a dozen different recipes to sell or offer to your new master. Featuring hand drawn traditional assets and entirely homemade sound effects!
Some tips I didn't convey well in this jam version:
- anti-elements are needed to produce aberrations. They are produced the same way as normal elements, but the slot must be exploded first (excess of 3 alchemical energy in a single slot will blow it up)
- You should wait until you are sure you have enough of the needed elements to blow up those slots and then spend a few more to actually get the anti-elements needed for the aberration you're being asked for. Spend a couple days buying reagents, and making potions for cash while specifically saving the reagents you need.
Hopefully that makes it a bit less confusing! In a post jam version I plan to better convey that stuff and set the player up to experiment and discover it themselves!
BUG Notice:
1) If you wanna see the full story progression, be sure to not craft the same Aberration twice--you'll spend the only empty husk you get in this version! Sorry! I plan to fix some bugs and add some features in a post-jam version eventually :D
2) The game doesn't scale properly--this is a result of how I made the UI but unfortunately this sort of thing is strangely difficult to fix in Unreal Engine. See the last screenshot. Don't fret--the game is supposed to be 1366x768, but there's not supposed to be that extra empty space!
